Abstract :
The role of the front of pack nutrition label Nutri-Score is to help consumers orient their choices towards foods that are more favorable to health, was developed first in France and then applied in several European countries. Morocco wishes to adopt a nutritional information system. This study aims to assess Moroccan consumers' perception of Nutri-Score and 4 other nutritional information labels (Health warning, Reference Intakes and Multiple Trafic Light, Health Star Rating). 367 took part in the study, we presented the five different logos tested to them and then they were asked a series of questions regarding their preferences, the attractiveness of the labels, their perceptions, intention to use and the trustworthiness placed in the labels. Concerning the perception of labels, the Nutri-Score is the label that received the highest number of positive responses, whether concerning the ease of being spotted (81.8%), of being understood (77.6%), and to provide rapid information (68.9%). The Nutri-Score was ranked as the preferred label by 66.6% of the participants. The Nutri-Score appears to be the most efficient nutritional logo, the preferred logo and it was the logo that inspires consumer confidence.
